Mission-driven, System-oriented, Human-centered

I managed research and strategy of this project along with our research partner, IDEO.org. We developed a strategy for the Deputy Mayor of Health and Human Services to enable the sustained, long-term success of its clients and disrupt intergenerational trauma.

I led the project management, design research and strategy for this project from inception through validation and delivery of strategy and was an advisor through the initiative’s budget process with HHS Office of the Secretary and the Office of Management and Budget (culminating in a $300 million request).

I led CDC leaders through the organization’s first-ever use of design research in an epidemic response. I advised CDC leadership on engagement scope and coached the lead CDC practitioner through the project.

I led the design and execution of the two-part pilot in 2017-2018. Today, it is fully funded program at the Department of Health and Human Services. The HHS Data Science CoLab was created as a way to identify and build a homegrown community of data science practitioners within the US Department of Health and Human Services.

I co-led the design and execution of the program beta, the first internal innovation accelerator in the federal government; led the user-feedback, program design of subsequent rounds; led the design and execution of curriculum and Innovation Coaching program.

I contributed as a design researcher and performed deep ethnographic research meeting and observing patients and nurses as part of a redesign of a mobile health approach.

I led a project to inform our ACA national media and outreach strategists on where to direct more resources in order to drive greatest impacts in enrollment into the Health Insurance Exchanges.

I have personally managed dozens of project teams in my role as the Director of the HHS Ignite Accelerator. Here is a small subset of my favorite teams and projects.
